Hello sweet people and Happy Valentine's Week to you! That's right, around here we celebrate more that just one day. Madeline has her party at school today and we are doing our Valentines celebration with the girls tomorrow in the morning, because....
Al is taking me away for the weekend! yahoo! Can you tell I am excited? We are going to a quaint town called Jefferson and we are staying in a really nice Bed and Breakfast. Of course, the girls are staying with Nana and Poppi....we are dropping them off at noon tomorrow and we will be on our way! I baked this little cake, using my new heart shaped silicone pan, to take to them tomorrow to say thank you for helping us out! :-) My mom really loves my butter cream frosting! On a side note, please spray your silicone pans even if they say you don't have to! TRUST ME !
We have been busy this week getting ready for Madeline's school party. She wanted to give each child a HOMEMADE valentine. Never mind the cute little tubs of Valentine play-doh I got or the packs of conversation hearts. Oh no...she wanted paper, scissors and glue! She is SO my daughter. I love that she is taking after me in such ways. So, I made her blank "cards" using scrapbook paper so she would have somewhere to start. I also used my beloved Cricut machine to cut out dozens of hearts and such for her to use on the cards. I am having such fun with that machine. We put the "treats" in a little sack and then punched a hole in the card and tied it around the top. I should have taken a picture. She was so proud!
Each child had to bring their own box to her their valentines. I found this cardboard mailbox at Hobby Lobby (my all-time fave craft store, sorry Michaels...you've been booted) and we painted it red and then put glitter and heart glue all over it. It was fun doing it together. This is my new Cricut table Al bought for me. It is a smaller version of my big table. It is such a cute size and I just love it.
I cut her name out, too, for the front of the box. I probably should have used a different paper, but she loved it. That is all that matters!!
I signed up to bring cupcakes for her party, at her request. I know she was hoping a bunch of tasting would be involved...hahaha. I love how they turned out. It was so much easier than I would have thought. I used a 1M tip...and it was perfect. That cake decorating class I took last year was so worth it!
I saved one for Al. You know he gets upset if I bake something and he can't have any of it...hahaha. Can't blame the poor guy! :-)
Here is little miss with her completed mail box! All ready to go!
I hope you all have a wonderful Valentines Day. I am really looking forward to some time away and best of all...I don't have to lift a finger! How relaxing.....
Oh and you just have to see this cutest project from a new blog I have been reading. This is the cutest thing ever and I am so doing it next year. Just click HERE
