I have made this for years! Madeline just adores it and asks for it often. It is much better than the one in the blue box! I also make for holidays so that I have something I know the kids will love. Sorry, health nuts…it’s only real Velveeta for this one! Sorry!!!
1 cup uncooked macaroni
1/2 stick or 1/4 cup butter
1/4 cup flour
2 cups milk
8 oz. Velveeta
salt and pepper to taste
1. Preheat oven to 350.
2. Boil Macaroni for 9 minutes.
3. Meanwhile, in a large saucepan, melt the butter. Whisk in the flour to make a paste. Gradually whisk in the milk. Bring to a simmer, whisking, until thickened, about a minute. Add the cheese, salt and pepper until smooth.
4. Stir the cooked macaroni into the cheese sauce. Transfer to a 2 quart baking dish.
5. Bake, uncovered, until bubbly…20-25 minutes. Let stand 10 minutes before serving.
Simple!
I will make this for the rest of my life! :-) I’m noticing a trend here!
