Did you have a nice St. Patrick's Day? We sure did. We discussed quite a bit St. Patrick's life and what he accomplished. Madeline's school did a great job with the story, as well. The top part of the day was Madeline's impromptu prayer at dinner, where she thanked God for St. Patrick and everything he did for Ireland and so forth. I was surprised, I tell you. I mean, she does pray, for heaven's sake, but I have never heard anything like that out for her mouth. Wow.
We made a traditional Irish meal...a first for me! I truly did not even want to try corned beef and cabbage....let alone smell it...but, when my Dad asked me if we would be having it I decided to try it. It will now be an annual tradition! We made a shamrock cake, too, and Madeline frosted a bunch of green stars to help out.

Ta-
Da!

Here is my table set for the dinner. Madeline added the paper cups, because, after all, they are green! :-) She made that that little
leprechaun craft earlier in the day to be a
centerpiece.

Sometime during the day a
leprechaun must have paid us a visit! Th
e entire gallon of milk had been turned green and gold
coins had been hidden all over the house! Can you imagine?!?!

So here it is...Corned beef, cabbage, potatoes & carrots. And it was actually good! Not good, as in I'll-add-it-to-my-monthly-menu-plan....but good as in once a year as a tradition! :-) We also made Irish soda bread, too. It is in the table picture up above. Very interesting stuff...no yeast and it has raisins! Everyone loved the dinner!!! I quit taking pictures somewhere along the way, so no faces made it in! I'll try better next time!!

Oh, and
when I was growing up we would get pinched if we didn't wear green. I believe this is no
longer the case?!?!
Hmmmm...interesting....
I wore green anyway! :-)
