Well, we had such an awesome time in New Orleans last week! There was so much to see and do that we will have to take a second trip!
We took a carriage tour around the French Quarter. Our guide was a local and had lived in N.O. his whole life. He had some cool stories to tell!
The beautiful St. Louis Cathedral......just amazing!
Of course we had the famous beignets at Cafe Du Monde....oh my, they were heavenly!!!
Who knows where we were at in this picture on Bourbon Street but it looks like we are having fun....(oh my!)
I thought this building was just gorgeous. The history and culture of this area is so neat. We also took a tour of the city and the pre/post Katrina affected area. It was so sad and happy at the same time.....to see what has been rebuilt and what is still empty.
Lunch on a balcony....did I mention it was perfect, beautiful weather? We didn't even have to rent a car....we took the trolley or walked, except for when we went to Emeril's restaurant...we took a cab because it was in the warehouse district. One day we got frozen hurricanes to-go (they sell them everywhere) and sat ourselves, feet up, in the back of the open air trolley and rode it far and wide, all through the historic district. Oh the gorgeous old buildings and houses...I was in heaven!
Awesome, uplifting music was heard everywhere, from a school band to jazz to street performers.. We loved it all.
The inside of the Cathedral.
One of my favorites meals was at Brennan's. In New Orleans they do every meal in 3 courses! Man, we ate a lot on this trip! (good thing we did so much walking!) Our breakfast this day was finished with their famous, world renown Bananas Foster! I am so going to make this at home!
Here is Al on the cart at Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville! When you hold the camera you get a lot of funny shots!
Lunch at Mr. B's was phenomenal. We had their famous bbq shrimp, but isn't bbq Texas style, it was their own special way and oh my heavens it was the best thing I have ever tasted!!! They served it with french bread to mop up the sauce. They don't even give you an option of wearing a bib they just stick it on you! I see why...the sauce is rich and buttery and went flying when you peeled the shrimp. I brought home the recipe and seasonings to make this here at home. Yum-bo!
We also ate at Galatoire's one evening and that was incredible, too. After all the cajun food I opted for a filet with Bearnaise sauce with a gorgeous Pinot Noir. It was wonderful.
That is about it....we are definitely going back sometime. I want to tour some of the plantations and such as well. If you get a chance you simply must go! Take your favorite person with you...I did! Al is my best friend and soul mate and every trip I take with him is always an adventure! sigh. BLESSED.
