Encouraging a love of reading

This is our Children's Library. We really do read all these books. Of course, some more than others, but I donate the ones we don't care for. I added a link below (left) of our favorite books of all time. Both secular and non-secular...we have loved them!
These are both such wonderful books! They are relatively new to us and we are reading one story from the Mothers and Daughters bible each night after our regular stories. Al is reading the Fathers and Daughters bible to the girls on Sunday nights. I highly recommend each of these books. They are very well written and we have tried A LOT of bibles for children. These are the best yet!

The above title, Under the Chinaberry Tree, is the single best book I have found that lists wonderful books for children. I found the recommendations to be excellent. What worked for us is to make a list of all the books that we found of interest and check them out from the library a few at a time. If Madeline really loves a particular book I would then find a copy for our home library. This way we only purchase the best of the best. I do this through paperback swap (see link below) or from Amazon. I also try to get hardback versions so they will last a long time. How I ended up with a paperback Goodnight Moon, I'll never remember! That thing is barely hanging on!
Happy Reading!!
